African art and sculpture of the Bambara. The Bambara People are among the most prolific creators of African sculpture. This masterfully carved Bambara Chiwara is 22 inches long and 14.5 inches tall, and stands up beautifully for display. Chiwaras are worn on the head and danced in pairs, one male and one female. This Chiwara, in the horizontal style, is identifiable as male only by checking the groin area.
